Swing-beam machines are robust and economical for general shearing. Vertical-action machines keep a near-straight blade path for improved accuracy, especially on thicker plate. Variable-rake allows tuning of rake angle and blade gap for best edge quality across different materials.

Correct blade gap and rake reduce burr and distortion. Powered backgauges improve repeatability and throughput. For long parts consider supports, squaring arms and pneumatic sheet supports.
