Swing Beam Cutting System

The iShear B uses a fixed-angle swing beam design. The upper blade moves through an arc during the cutting stroke, with the cutting angle determined by the model and its rated capacity.

This construction keeps the machine mechanically straightforward while covering a broad range of sheet and plate thicknesses. The range includes machines rated from 6 mm to 25 mm mild steel and from 4 mm to 17 mm material at 700 N/mm² tensile strength.

Hydraulic System

The hydraulic system uses Rexroth or Hoerbiger components, depending on the machine specification. Hydraulic hold-down cylinders secure the sheet before the blade enters the material, helping prevent movement during the cutting cycle.

The double-speed system allows the machine to operate at a higher stroke rate when cutting below its full rated capacity. Stroke length can also be reduced from the control when producing shorter components, increasing the number of cuts per minute.

Back Gauge and Control

The standard motorised back gauge has 1,000 mm travel and runs on a linear ball screw system. Positioning is programmed through the ELGO P40T touchscreen control, with programmable retract to move the gauge clear of the cut component.

The back gauge also swings upwards after reaching its full travel, allowing longer sheets to pass through the machine when required. Cybelec and ESA control systems are available as alternatives.

Blade and Table Configuration

The upper blade has two cutting edges and the lower blade has four. Blade gap adjustment is manual as standard, with CNC-controlled automatic blade gap adjustment available as an option.

The front transfer table incorporates roller balls to assist with sheet positioning. Standard front support arms include measuring scales, T-slots and flip stops, while the 250 mm throat allows material wider than the blade length to be notched or trimmed.

Machine Range

The B Series includes cutting lengths of 2,100 mm, 2,600 mm, 3,100 mm, 4,000 mm and 6,150 mm, depending on the required capacity.

The range covers:

• Up to 25 mm mild steel on 3,100 mm machines
• Up to 20 mm mild steel on 4,000 mm machines
• Up to 10 mm mild steel on 6,150 mm machines

The correct model should be selected against the material grade as well as the nominal thickness. The published mild steel capacities are based on material with a tensile strength of 450 N/mm².

Optional Equipment

Available options include pneumatic rear sheet support, return-to-sender sheet handling, automatic blade gap adjustment, angular gauges, longer front support arms, a 500 mm throat, oil cooling or heating, central lubrication and CNC-controlled front sheet feeding.

Rear light barriers, opening finger guards and front laser guarding can also be specified according to the required machine layout and safety arrangement.
