When selecting a set of bending rolls, beware the material yield strength specification is a minimum specification only !!, Steel plates arriving at your works gates may have higher yield strengths. If you choose a Plate roll with a bending performance that is based on a minimum yield strength, then the bending performance might be on the borderline, beware , you might regret your choice.


The plate sizes used for Pressure vessels,Windtowers & Monopiles will of course vary, but as a broad outline, the steel plates might be 40mm to 120mm thick, 3/4000mm wide, with developed lengths before bending of between 20meters to 25meters, the weight of the steel plate might be in the order of 30 tonne upto 90 tonne. These are big piece's of plate to handle, do you want your craneage tied up on this all day ?. The picture on the RH side shows the MG Srl loading system, there is a 12 or 14 metre length of powered feed table butting up to the machine, where a longer feed table is required, the rest of the table is non powered. To assit the pre bend roll during the pre bend cycle the powered table also lifts upwards. Along the length of the table(s) there are side rollers to keep the steel plate at 90 degrees to the bending rolls during the plate rolling process, additionally if rolling Windtowers a cone shape of 1 to 3 degrees may be required, to produce this cone, the powered section of the feed table has side mounted hydraulic pullers & pushers to move the plate as required to develop the cone.
